Chihuahua, Chih.- The Federal Government must change its position on energy policy towards the United States, since this way Mexico will have a completely open door to attract foreign direct investment in the coming years, said the president of Index Chihuahua, Román Rivas Hong. Rivas Hong said that there are still many tense situations between the United States and China, which allows for the expansion of the nearshoring window that currently exists to attract more direct capital for the manufacturing industry. The president of Index Chihuahua indicated that we must be attentive to how the controversies between Mexico, United States and Canada are resolved within the framework of the T-MEC on the energy issue. If these controversies are solved, there will be an extraordinary opportunity open, especially due to the series of subsidies that will be granted for all clean energy components, he reiterated. He also mentioned that in the United States subsidies are being granted for all clean energy components, which is part of the Inflation Reduction Act of this country. He pointed out that this support will favor a greater production of a range of inputs in this sector among companies located in the southern United States and this could help to attract more foreign direct investment to Mexico and of course to Chihuahua, since many components for this production could also be manufactured here, which will surely have a very strong impulse as of 2023. He emphasized that very interesting changes are coming and these credits that the American companies will have will surely have a direct or indirect impact on Mexico, especially in the north of the country.
