Chihuahua, Chih.- Governor Maru Campos Galván announced that after several months of negotiations, the directors of the Canadian company Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) decided to build in the state a plant dedicated to the manufacture of boats for sailing, which will have an investment of approximately USD $235 million and will generate about 1,300 direct jobs. The Governor emphasized that this investment will create high value jobs with an L2 level, that is, twice the minimum wage, and added that so far in the current State administration, more than USD $3 billion of foreign investment has been received. Maru Campos thanked the head of the Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE), María Angélica Granados; the mayor of Chihuahua, Marco Bonilla, as well as the director of Economic Development and Competitiveness, José Jordán Orozco. In her speech, the head of the SIDE, María Angélica Granados, indicated that this is BRP's first plant in the city of Chihuahua, where they will manufacture boats, "last year they won awards for the product they will manufacture here, so we should feel very proud of this," she said. The official said that construction will begin shortly, however, the BRP Maritime Group plant will start operations in 2025, it will have 185,000 square meters, in an area of 38 hectares, north of the city of Chihuahua. Additionally, the Mayor of Chihuahua, Marco Bonilla Mendoza, said that this is great news, not only for the Capital, but for all of Chihuahua, with an investment that was disputed with other states, which materialized after more than 12 months of negotiations and meetings, which demonstrates the strength that is achieved when the various orders of government join forces for the same purpose.
