The head of the Ministry for Innovation and Economic Development, María Angélica Granados Trespalacios, participated in the Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (REAP) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), joining Chihuahua delegation to continue promoting the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Chihuahua MIT REAP has announced the new Focus Program with Mexico, which will begin in May of this year and end in November 2023, with the objective that various teams in the country learn and adapt the frameworks developed by MIT to accelerate entrepreneurship driven by innovation in their regions. The state team is led by the president of Economic Development of Chihuahua (DESEC by its initials in Spanish), Sergio Mendoza, and by Luis Almanza, director of the Orion Technological Park of the Technological Institute of Monterey Campus Chihuahua, in addition to including regional experts from the five areas of main stakeholders: Government, companies, academia, business community and venture capital. The objectives are to accelerate the revitalization of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the city of Chihuahua, generate more and better companies, which produce more jobs, as well as raise the GDP per capita, which in the long run, will generate well-being in the population. MIT REAP is a global initiative that engages with communities around the world to empower the Index of Dynamic Entrepreneurship (IDE) ecosystems and transform economies through two innovative programs: Global and Focus. Both programs employ an evidence-based "team" approach, drawing on MIT frameworks, research, and insights in a practical, actionable, and strategic framework, convening and educating key stakeholders, and promoting the empowerment of leaders to drive significant economic and social progress.
