The French manufacturing company Essilor Luxottica International announced an investment of USD$133 million to expand its operations in Chihuahua. The state governor, Maru Campos Galván, together with the Essilor Luxottica Corporation, formalized the project to expand its plant in the BAFAR industrial park located in the capital of Chihuahua. According to the Governor, they expect this new expansion project to generate around 1,700 new jobs in the region. The plant, as reported, will be dedicated to the manufacture of lenses and frames with state-of-the-art processes accompanied by the quality of the Chihuahuan workforce. Essilor Luxottica is a French capital company with an average annual turnover of EUR$5,670 million. Worldwide, it currently has 60,000 direct jobs, 30 manufacturing plants on all continents and around 450 final assembly optical laboratories. In addition, it is one of the world's largest owners of ophthalmic and optical licenses, with more than 1,500 active patents.
