Chihuahua signs collaboration agreement “Skills for Prosperity Mexico”

The Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE), through the Technological Development Support Institute (INADET) signed a collaboration agreement with the "Skills for Prosperity Mexico" (SFPMx) program, promoted by the Government of the United Kingdom. Through this agreement, the aim is to provide technical assistance to institutions of upper-middle and higher education, so that they integrate relevant curricular contents for the green industry. Thanks to this alliance, the High Technology Training Center (Cenaltec) will provide the teaching staff of the schools that currently participate in SFPMx, training and updating courses in the areas of energy efficiency, electromobility, technical English, renewable energy and circular economy. “In the sectoral program that is aligned with the State Development Plan, 8 guiding objectives were defined, one of which for the first time is the low-carbon economy, which aims to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions in the component industrial." highlighted the undersecretary of SIDE, Ulises Fernández. The new component called "Green Skills" responds to the need to increase the number of specialized technicians and professionals in one of the most relevant areas at a global level, and in order to contribute to Mexico's transition towards a low-carbon economy. The leader of the SFPMx program, Miguel Armendáriz, highlighted the work that has been carried out in equity inclusion and employability policies jointly with CENALTEC. "We want to continue to align ourselves with the effort made by the State Government of Chihuahua, to generate economic development in the area of youth employability," he assured. Also present at the event were the director of INADET, Sergio Mancinas; the technical director and deputy director of Green Skills, Ramón Olivas and Félix Ramírez, respectively, as well as Roberto Baca, officer of the Skills for Prosperity Mexico program in Chihuahua. The process of training and pedagogical alignment is led by the International Foundation for Youth, within the framework of the Skills for Prosperity Mexico Program. The implementation of this pilot project at Cenaltec will serve as a starting point to add value to the ecosystem of green skills in different regions of the country. The State Government works in coordination with international organizations, in order to strengthen the curricula of upper-middle and higher education institutions on issues of current importance, such as energy efficiency and low-carbon technologies.
