Governor Maru Campos laid the first stone for the start of construction of the Sentinel Tower (Torre Centinela) in Ciudad Juárez, from which the strategy to combat insecurity throughout the entity will be orchestrated, for which she announced an investment of USD$200 million. "With great emotion we lay the first stone of what will be the headquarters of the Sentinel Platform, an action with which we want to tell the entire state... that our government is more committed than ever to public safety," she said. She explained that the Sentinel Tower is a comprehensive strategy that brings together the power of technology, inter-institutional coordination between the various government orders and, of course, a top-level state police. “Insecurity problems must be addressed through a well-defined, well-thought-out, well-designed strategy, so that each effort undertaken by each member of the State’s Ministry of Public Security (SSPE) is efficient in combating crime, procuring justice and of course citizen security”, she pointed out. She stated that for this, one of the central axes is the implementation of the Sentinel Tower, with the most advanced technology in the world, so that police efforts are implemented accurately and assertively. In turn, the head of the SSPE, Gilberto Loya, explained that one of the axes of the Chihuahua Model is the creation of the Sentinel Platform with the highest quality and technology standards: 1,065 PTZ cameras, 4,800 fixed cameras, 1,791 plate reader cameras, 102 arches, 11 filters, 807 workstations, 36 video walls, 107 smart tables, 16 AFIS/Railing systems, 74 drones, 40 remote cameras, 1,920 tablets, 12 citizen camera systems and its own sentinel software system of artificial intelligence. All of the above will be housed in the Sentinel Tower, which will be the epicenter of the entire state security strategy and from this place it will be possible to monitor the 67 municipalities through its 13 subcenters that will be located in the highest priority populations.
