The event was held last Thursday, October 20, when authorities from the public and private sectors of Chihuahua met, in addition to the presence of the ambassadors and representatives of Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Sweden. Officials from the state governments of Baja California Sur, Chiapas, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Morelos, Nayarit, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala and Zacatecas also attended, within the framework of the Fifth Ordinary General Assembly of the Mexican Association of Secretaries of Economic Development (AMSDE). During the seminar, key elements of the circular economy and industrial symbiosis were raised in the economic context of the state. Additionally, the results of the Chihuahua Green City Project were presented and future possibilities for cooperation in this area were identified. The event featured a presentation by Verónica Kuchinow from SIMBIOSY, who has led the efforts of the Chihuahua Green City project (diagnosis and opportunities for industrial symbiosis in the capital city), promoted within the framework of the Sectoral Dialogues Program between Mexico and the European Union. Also present was Víctor Gómez-Céspedes, project leader and president of the Energy, Environment and Sustainability Commission of COPARMEX Chihuahua, as well as Ulises Alejandro Fernández Gamboa, Undersecretary of Innovation, Competitiveness and Business Development of Chihuahua State Government. The closing was in charge of His Excellency Ambassador of the European Union in Mexico, Gautier Mignot and the head of the Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development of Chihuahua State Government, María Angélica Granados Trespalacios. Both authorities recognized the progress of Chihuahua in this matter, the global challenges and opportunities represented by the transition towards decarbonization and circularity, whose key is the collaboration of state governments, the productive sector, organized civil society and other entities that contribute to achieve this goal. Chihuahua has become a benchmark in circular economy by laying the foundations for companies and industries to have confidence and make a firm commitment in their transition to this type of economic modality, by attracting investment to the territory, boosting competitiveness and external public-private collaboration.
