Governor promotes Chihuahua's industry in Washington, D.C.

The Governor of the State of Chihuahua, Maru Campos, met with representatives of the aerospace and semiconductor industry in the United States, in order to present the areas of opportunity that the state offers for investors in the field. Accompanied by Mexico's ambassador to the U.S. Esteban Moctezuma, the governor said that Chihuahua is a land of opportunities and one of its most important assets is the resilience of its people, because despite adversities, the state is growing and advancing according to the needs and demands of the industry. "Chihuahua is a land of hard-working and resilient people, which is why we achieve high levels of productivity and competitiveness in high-value and complex sectors, through the development of talent, based on the teaching of knowledge and skills required to face the present and the future of work," she said. She indicated that the state has a privileged geography, with a strategic location bordering the United States, and today, it is the state that exports the most to the neighboring country, with more than USD $58 billion dollars a year. In addition, it ranks third in Mexico in the number of manufacturing, maquiladora and export services industries (IMMEX) with 490 companies. Governor Maru Campos informed that 98 percent of the region's engineers and technicians in the industry are local, 6 thousand engineering graduates per year and 20 thousand technicians in skilled jobs. 34% of STEM, science, technology, engineering and mathematics, which makes it a very attractive entity for foreign investment. Chihuahua has 6 technological innovation centers, 9 universities with aerospace programs and 45 manufacturing operations and business units in this sector. She also pointed out that in order to improve citizen security and maintain peace, the Sentinel Platform is currently being implemented, a comprehensive strategy that operates at the state level through 13 regions with the highest technology indexes. Therefore, she assured that Chihuahua is ready to receive foreign companies with the best incentive package through an economic policy aimed at strengthening the electromobility, aerospace, smart industry, semiconductor, logistics hub, mining, bioeconomy, and low-carbon economy sectors. Esteban Moctezuma stated that as Chihuahua is a border state, it is of utmost importance for the bilateral economic relationship between Mexico and the U.S., as both countries seek to promote regional economic growth and provide more and better jobs. He emphasized that Chihuahua-Texas-New Mexico represents a highly integrated region, connected with state-of-the-art and efficient ports of entry, railroads and airports, offering a unique manufacturing and logistics platform to compete in the global marketplace. The aerospace meeting was attended by executives representing companies such as Boeing, Honeywell, GE Aviation, Airbus Americas, Bombardier, Safran USA, Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) and General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA).
